Bannockburn Village first opened its doors to student residents in 1970. Bannockburn, christened after a stream in Scotland, was once hailed as a "modern and elegant" apartment complex. Today, its unusual, Alpine-esque architecture and wide array of living arrangements continue to entice students. The Plaza, on the other hand, displays a faux Palm Springs appearance and modern styling on the interior, which have placed it at the top of students' housing lists since the University purchased it in 1987 from a private developer.
Together as one, Bannockburn Village & Plaza offers students a total of thirteen distinctive apartment-style living arrangements ranging from economical one-room suites-with or without kitchen access-to large, traditional two-bedroom, two bath apartments.
Regardless of the apartment style you choose at Bannockburn Village & Plaza, your home will be outfitted with a refrigerator, stove/oven, window blinds, carpeting, and heating and air-conditioning. Plaza apartments also boast dishwashers. Suites at Bannockburn Village (i.e. Loft Suites, Scots Suites, and Bannockburn Suites) are the only furnished apartments in these two complexes. All apartments are cable-ready.
Located on the Bannockburn Village & Plaza grounds are swimming pools and a Jacuzzi, picnic areas and barbecues, computer and study labs, television lounges, secure laundry rooms and bicycle storage garage, sport courts, vending machines, and a fitness room. Services provided to students include mail delivery, equipment checkout (e.g. tools, vacuums, recreational gear, etc.), faxing and copying opportunities, and 24-hour emergency assistance.
The Residence Life staff at Bannockburn Village & Plaza devotes their time to developing an atmosphere that enables you to excel academically and which provides ample opportunity for you to participate and enjoy activities of social, cultural, educational, and recreational interest. To this end, the Residence Life staff schedule programs, events and activities throughout the year, as well as provide direct assistance-both of a housing and personal nature-to student residents during and after "regular business hours."
