Many of the things you learn and the people you meet at UCR involve activities in your residential community. Here’s a list of some events that have occurred in the past.
From comedians and live bands, to roommate icebreakers and academic workshops, Welcome Week is packed with activities beginning Move-In Day through the first day of classes.
Many seminars and workshops are offered: AIDS awareness, dating, sexual health, stress awareness, blood pressure testing, women’s issues roundtable, time management, first aid and CPR training, and more.
We honor and celebrate diversity and encourage our residents to do the same. Many of the programs and activities involve learning about people from different backgrounds and cultures. Examples include Around the World in One Night and the Underground Dance Party.
A free event for residents, Extreme Green Fest features acoustic performances, DIY and crafts booths, a swap meet and more environmentally-themed activities.
Programs such as Monte Carlo, S.S. Lothian, the Underground Dance Party and RHA-sponsored dances bring residents out to have a good time, meet their fellow community members and listen to great music in a safe and friendly environment.
When the weather’s right, it’s nice to eat outside and socialize with community members. In addition to the great food, entertainment is provided. Past activities have included bounce houses, craft tables, water slides and bands.
These activities are designed to connect you with the community outside of campus. Past events have included clothing and food drives, trick-or-treating with local children and helping out at one of the many local service centers.

Programs, events and activities are typically advertised via fliers in resident mailboxes, strategically placed banners, R'Talk screens, cards in the Residential Restaurants and in the monthly newsletter.
