Campus Apartments: Before Move-In
2026 Move-In Date: Friday, September 18
By August 15
Submit Your R'Card Photo
- If you have never had an R'Card, you must submit your photo to the UCR Carding Office.
- You will need your R'Card for Move-In Day, so don't wait! Delivery timelines lengthen as we get closer to Move-In Day.
- Photos submitted by September 6 will be included in your housing check-in materials. If you miss this deadline, you will have to pick up your card from the Highlander Service Station when you are back on campus.
- ââââIf you have an existing R'Card, you do not need to submit a new photo. Your existing R'Card will work for check-in.
- If you had an existing R'Card but have lost it, you will have to request a new card and pay a fee of $36.
Confirm Your Housing Assignment & Pick an Optional Dining Plan
- Log in to your MyHousing Portal:
- Find the Campus Apartment Contract for the correct term year and tap "Continue" to view your assignment.
- Review the Dining Plan options, and consider adding one to your housing contract. (The Glen Mor contract includes a dining plan. Graduate students may request to opt out of the dining plan.)
Heads up: Your housing assignment is subject to change until Move-In Day. Your MyHousing Portal will always reflect the most current information.
Early September
Get your Check-In Pass
- On or after September 4, log in to your MyHousing Portal and download your Check-In Pass QR Code.
- Save it to your phone or print it, but you must have it at Move-In Day.
- Confirm your check-in time.
- Arrive on time, but no more than 15 minutes early â any earlier and you will be asked to stand aside until your assigned time. Early and late arrivals impact wait times, campus traffic, parking lots, community passages and elevators for everyone.
- Need to check in late for religious or critical reasons? Please contact your Resident Services Office (RSO) or email us at housinginfo@ucr.edu before Move-In Day. We cannot hold your room without prior notice.
Make Sure You're Secure
- Change your UCR network password so you can use Housing's network on your personal computer.
- Log in to your MyHousing Portal, and review the details on purchasing renters' insurance.
One week before move-in
Start Prepping
- Review the packing checklist and prohibited items list. Some things to keep in mind:
- Each resident can check out one rolling cart on Move-In Day to transport their items, but you may also bring your own wagon, dolly or moving cart.
- If you are going to check out a blue cart, you will need to leave an ID or credit/debit card with the Housing staff until you return the cart.
- Each resident may park one vehicle.
- No moving vans, RVs or trailers are permitted on Move-In Day.
- Elevators may experience longer wait times on Move-In Day. If you are able, consider using the stairs.
- Remember: Space is limited in on-campus housing! Many families end up taking items home.

Feeling sick? Many illnesses and viruses are on the rise this time of year. As move-in approaches, if you have cold/flu symptoms or test positive for COVID, please stay home. Your space will be waiting for you when you're feeling better. Contact your RSO to make arrangements.
The day before move-in
Do a Final Check
- Confirm your assignment in the MyHousing Portal.
- Have your Check-In Pass ready (printed or on your phone).
- Remember: all students check in at UCR Lot 30 first â check-in at your community is not possible.
- Your check-in is a drive-through process, so there is no need to park when you arrive at Lot 30! Please follow the signs to get in line.
- Pick out the perfect fit:
- There will be a decent amount of walking.
- Consider bringing a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and an umbrella for shade, as it will likely be hot.
- There will be photo opportunities, so be sure to show your Highlander spirit!
- Get lots of sleep â tomorrow is the big day! đ
