BEFORE MOVING IN
Get Your Documents Ready
- Submit your photo to the UCR Carding Office to receive your R'Card, which you will need to pick up your keys.
- Change your UCR network password so you can use Housing's network on your personal computer.
- Log in to your MyHousing Portal:
- Download your Check-In Pass QR Code. You can save it to your phone or print it, but you must show it to receive your keys.
- Review the details on purchasing renters' insurance.
Pack Your Items
- Review the packing checklist and prohibited items list. Some things to keep in mind:
- No moving vans, RVs or trailers are permitted when moving in.
- Space is limited in on-campus housing! Many residents end up sending items back home.
On MOVE-IN DAY
Drive to Your Community
- Please leave pets at home; they will not be allowed into buildings due to health and safety concerns.
- Park in the marked visitor parking spaces and go inside to the front desk.
- Show your Check-In Pass and R'Card to receive your keys.
Unload Your Items & Perform a Room Inspection
- Follow the signs to find your room or refer to the following maps.
Take a look around: Complete your move-in inspection via your MyHousing Portal — instructions will be in your UCR email when you pick up your keys. Failure to complete it on the day you move in means your space is accepted as-is.
AFTER MOVING IN
Get to know your community

Make it yours
- Decorate your room and make it feel like home. Need supplies or gear? Check out the UCR Bookstore.
- Review the Move-In Day brochure for additional helpful tips.
Health reminder: Viruses like COVID, influenza and RSV spread quickly in shared living environments. Hand sanitizing stations are always nearby. Use them often and keep a good check on your health throughout your stay.
Explore campus life
Join a club or sport
UCR has hundreds of clubs, intramural sports and student organizations to explore. No matter what you're into, there's a place for you here.
Check out campus events

Getting around
Buy a parking pass or explore alternative transportation to explore the surrounding community.
First-year residents: Due to limited parking availability and UCR's sustainability efforts, first-year residents are not permitted to bring a vehicle to campus.
